Don’t feel bad. I soldered the high quality ceramic tube socket to the wrong side of the board on the E80cc preamp kit. I had to clean out solder from 9 slots on the board. I used a one hand operation de soldering iron I bought from Amazon. The iron heats up and melts the solder and then I push a button to release the plunger and the solder is sucked up from the area. It did a beautiful job of cleaning out the socket slots on the board. $12.99 to $39.99 on Amazon. One hand operation! All the best to you! Brian

Hi Charles, I use at times a vintage David Hafler 100 preamplifier with mm phono input into a diy Dynaco ‘Stereo 70″ amplifier powering Polk Audio Monitor 10 speakers. When I turn on the phono section of the DH 100 I could hear people talking and music coming in at very low levels from the speakers. The phono section could be the antenna….I live in a house built in 1930 constructed with real size 2X4’s and a closed coal chute in the basement! My listening room is on the third floor.( Our Dan, Scott, and Annie are now grown and have their own homes ) The receptacles on the third floor are not grounded. When I inserted into the system shielded coaxial RCA cables from the turntable and all other sources… the Polk speakers were quiet from the radio station nearby.Thank you for your reply! Best Wishes, Brian
